FLARE NUINUI QUEST is a free platformer action game where you get to play as Shiranui Flare, a popular Japanese Virtual YouTuber. In this fanmade software by sulpx, you will have to battle enemies along your way and explore different locations. You will also need to collect weapons to add to your arsenal.

FLARE NUINUI QUEST features a number of other VTubers from hololive production, as well. It takes inspiration from the popular Mega Man franchise, which is known for its pixel art style and hack-and-slash gameplay. However, in this program, you will mostly have to use long-range weapons.

A unique twist on a retro-style game

FLARE NUINUI QUEST is exciting for both fans of hololive production and classic arcade games. It features the iconic pixel look and pairs it with smooth controls and stunning scenes. You also have the ability to customize the controls to your liking. As you progress through the story, you will also be able to collect new powers and weapons to help you defeat enemies and bosses. 

The objective is quite simple, but the levels present you with a number of challenges. You will need to keep an eye on your health bar and avoid obstacles that can harm you. Some platforms will also be quite small, so make sure to exercise caution when jumping, so you don’t fall back down where you started, especially with enemies nearby.

However, players should note that there is no option to pause the game without having to open a different application or window. In relation to this, scrolling away from the game for a certain amount of time will lead to the character’s actions becoming sped up. This can be resolved by restarting the game. However, since it does not save your progress you will have to start over.

Needs tweaking but is still well-made

Given that FLARE NUINUI QUEST is fanmade and not produced by a large developer, it displays a great quality that’s up to par with many big games in terms of art and development. There are some issues that require fixing, but you'll still be able to fully enjoy the game and its storyline. With a variety of characters and weapons, there is a lot for players to look forward to.
